Current Relationships [Last Updated: 2/4/10]
♥ Homura Met at the Institute, Homura serves as his current commander in the History Club. He is intrigued by Homura's difference and his power, but also by the subdued innocence of his love for Rinrei and how it comes through in affection for anything that reminds him of her. During Hijikata's absense, Okita focused singularly on Homura for direction and still relies heavily on him for guidance. He feels a strange sort of kinship with Homura and besides Hijikata, the demi-god is the one Okita is closest with having known him the longest. Following the events of NS40, Okita is going to be trying to stick closer to Homura, so he knows he's not to blame for what happened the night of his pseudo-SC.
♥ Yamazaki Ayumu The only other person from his world and a colleague from the Shinsengumi, Ayumu holds a special place in Okita's book. She was the cook for the Mibu ronin, their surrogate mother and the one to really hold them together. She was also a ninja, Inspector Yamazaki Susumu's older sister. In their own world, she went to finish the mission Susumu failed and met an untimely and rather brutal death for her efforts. Her death shook the Shinsengumi, but also helped bring about the arrest of Shunsuke Furudaka, a Loyalist sympathizer. Okita attended her funeral and led the raid that captured Furudaka, but he has never really been able to accept her death. With Ayumu being back and alive at Landel's, he wants to do everything in his power to ensure that she gets the life she deserves, while simultaneously wanting to uphold appearances as Ayumu's de facto commanding officer and hide the fact that she is dead. He trusts her with just about everything, but still refuses to tell her about his illness or her future.
♥ Hattori Heiji The Kansai area detective reminds Okita of Tetsu in many ways, but originally they met just to spar and have fun. Okita recognized the boy's talent and looks to keep him near for that, but also just because he enjoys his company. The fact that Heiji is constantly thinking, always working things out and reading into people's actions is appealing to the swordsman. It also helps that Heiji knows about the future and Okita is still trying to uncover details that will help him prevent the demise of the Shinsengumi. Okita feels particularly protective of Heiji, and because of that he keeps him at a certain distance. He doesn't want Heiji to realize that he has contracted his disease again because he doesn't wish for the boy to suffer.
♥ Kenren Another god from Homura's world and the once defacto leader of the History Club when Homura lost his memories. Okita has a great deal of respect for Kenren and likes him quite a lot, but he has a more hands-off approach to leading that reminds him of a mixture of Yamanami and Hijikata, which unnerves him a little. The more they've spoken, however, the more Okita finds he likes Kenren. The god has little respect for authority unless said authority proves itself, but he's keenly connected to his friends. He's Homura's right hand man as well, which places him very highly in Okita's eyes.
♥ Kaito Kuroba Heiji's friend and also a specific point of interest for Okita. While Kaito and Heiji both dislike Homura, Okita feels a bit of paternal instinct for both boys. Kaito dislikes killing and for that he reminds him a little of Kenshin, but Kaito is also hiding his identity from Heiji and Shinichi and so Okita wants to help him in order to maintain harmony within the group. Originally, he took Kaito in as a favor to Heiji, but now he is doing it for personal reasons. Unlike the others, Kaito seems a bit more mature, if only because he has had to stand on his own for so long. He's well aware of the group dynamic and Okita worries that it puts a strain on him.
♥ Guy Guy is very close to moving up to the next level. Okita deems him a friend and someone he cares about, but he can't afford to be entirely honest with him since they live together. He has to keep his disease under wraps near him, but otherwise he enjoys talking with Guy and hopes they can get closer. He is also careful to remember Guy's problem with women, thanks to their first meeting where Guy mistook him for one and freaked out. Okita wants to know why, but he's smart enough not to ask.
At one point in time, Guy was lost to the basement and died - killed by the boy Sync. Okita didn't realize until Guy was gone how much the man's presence meant to him, and he spent one night alone, somewhat paralyzed by the pain of it. When Guy returned the next day, he was shocked, but relieved that the death was impermanent. He hopes that they can get to know each other better now, since they have this second chance.
♥ Sai Sai is a ninja, but not the same type as Okita is used to. He is also a boy trying very hard to learn how to wield his emotions; something Okita feels particular empathy with. He's only met Sai a few times, but he has realized that for all the things Sai has done, he is still a very pure person - and very uncertain. Okita has given the ninja advice when he needed it, and makes sure to be the listening ear also. He has a drawing Sai made on the bus to Doyleton tucked away, and admires the boy's skill a great deal. He draws from the imagination, which is something Okita doesn't often see - and the creatures he comes up with are beautiful, at least in his eyes.
Recently, Sai came to Okita with a new problem - that of his deceased (from illness) teammate having come back to life as a visitor. Okita knows the pain this causes, and wants to help Sai learn to deal with this, even if his methods are a little harsh.
♥ Taura Okita's first impression of Taura was: big. She is a tall woman, almost taller than Harada Sanosuke and possessing a curvy frame that matches his to boot. When they first met it was on a Special Counseling Prep Room raid and they had little time to talk. He ended up passing out from the noxious fumes, but he'd seen Taura pull Ayumu from the room, so he feels he owes her a small debt of gratitude. A few days later, she ended up coming to see him at breakfast and they were finally able to have a small chat, where Okita realized just
how tall Taura was and finally learned her name. He has promised to get her the nekote from the raid because she likes to work with her hands and it seems like a good fit. Taura is from the future and from a place called Jackson's Whole. Her world is mostly devoid of nature.
♥ Claude C. Kenni Guy first mentioned a friend who he often spoke to and ventured out with, piquing Okita's interest. He never gave a name, but Okita was always glad that Guy had someone he could trust and speak with so openly. Then, one day, Okita ran into a friendly blond who introduced himself as Claude. Since they realized they had a mutual friend, he and Claude struck up a casual friendship. Okita showed Claude how to make paper cranes and they had a rather pleasant conversation in the Arts and Crafts room. The next time they met though was for Claude to deliver the news of Guy's death. Unable to go and pay respects to his friend himself, Okita wrote a letter and a poem inside a paper crane and entrusted Claude with its delivery. He shared in Claude's grief, his anger, and his thirst for revenge - promising to help him destroy Sync if he should ever want the help. Claude has Okita's gratitude for telling him of Sync, delivering the message and continuing to be such a good and loyal friend to Guy.
♥ Nataku He is just a boy, or so it seems, but he was Homura's predecessor as the Toushin Taishi, the god of war. Okita doesn't know much about the boy's background, but he sympathizes with him - a child dragged into war, forced to kill without ever getting the chance to be young and innocent. Like Homura, Okita wants to give Nataku a chance to live a free life now that he's away from Heaven, but he also recognizes that the boy's skill is invaluable, as is his effect on the demi-god and on Kenren.
More than that, however, Nataku's personality is appealing. He's young, inquisitive and more than willing to pull a few pranks on the more serious members of the History Club and the Institute at large. Okita likes him because of this and they once managed to dump a tube of glitter on Homura together. He hopes they can play again someday, either during the day or at night.
♥ Junpei Iori The boy sought weapons training on the bulletin board and Okita responded. Since he's used to teaching, he saw it as an opportunity to ensure his skills hadn't diminished. Junpei knows about Okita's identity and his legendary status, which is why he wanted lessons in the first place. Okita thinks he has the skill, but he must work on his control. Junpei relies too much on brute strength alone to win a fight, which robs him of his finesse and opens him to greater injury. Okita has trained Junpei twice - once during the day when he taught Junpei a balance exercise to teach him to read his enemies' moves rather than run headlong into blind battle. He also held one training session at night, which Homura attended, where he momentarily lost control himself and almost severely injured his student. Junpei didn't seem too afraid of him, though, and so Okita looks forward to their next training session. He wants to teach him more of the Tennen Rishin style and how to better fight in close quarters.
♥ Peter Petrelli Peter Petrelli has powers which makes him of interest to the History Club, but the first time Okita met the boy was in the showers, looking rather uncomfortable. After some slight teasing (after all, this is Okita we're talking about), he ended up having rather pleasant conversation with Peter and in the process discovered that everyone was speaking different languages, but hearing only their native tongue. Okita liked the boy, but didn't think much of him until Homura started taking an interest in him. Okita continues to use the name 'Soujirou' around Peter, but is now watching him a little closer to monitor the decisions he makes regarding Sylar.
♥ Yuffie Kisaragi They first met when he attacked Sanosuke and Kenshin the night that Hijikata disappeared (NS34) - using the word 'met' lightly. Okita noticed her using magic to cure Sanosuke and beyond that paid her no attention. However, after meeting her during the day and playing with her on the bulletin, he has realized that she is an interesting person and worth further interactions. However, since she
is Kenshin's ally and not his, he is wary of her. Since speaking with her on the bulletin and receiving medical treatment at her hands (NS 42), his opinion of her has changed for the better. Now he finds her a good playmate, easy to get along with, funny and skilled. He does not trust her one hundred percent because she is close with Suzaku, Lelouch and Himura, but that won't stop him from going out with her and seeing what she can do.
♥ Shinichi Kudou Okita has yet to really talk to Kudou for any length of time, but since he is Heiji's friend and another 'puppy' for him to take care of, that automatically raises him above the others. However, because of his relationship to the Kaito Kid, Okita wishes to keep him from Kuroba as much as possible, but that is proving more and more difficult. He is also particularly interested in Kudou's learning ability, which he found is more through mimicry than straight drills. He hopes to train with him again, in order to see what else the boy can do, given a good model. He is Heiji's greatest rival though and that makes things a little difficult.
Recently, Okita found out that Kudou left Heiji on his own (allowed him to go into a room where he was attacked without providing backup) and that has significantly lowered the detective in Okita's eyes. If he cannot count on Kudou not to leave Heiji hanging whenever a case comes up, then he wonders if he can trust him at all.
♥ Yamada Hanatarou A new addition to the History Club and a healer. Okita finds Hanatarou's nervous nature cute, kind of like a spastic puppy. As a healer, he is invaluable, but as a person, he's good for a tease and reminds Okita a great deal of Hotaru in her clumsiness and her genuinely good heart. Okita realizes that being nice to Hanatarou is possibly the best way to keep him around, and so will be going out of his way a little to ensure that the healer stays and feels that he is being put to good use. Hanatarou also taught Okita about the juice boxes and straws, which led to Okita shooting a straw paper at Homura during DS 42.
♥ Arthur Kirkland A strange, foreign man of England that Okita met during Arthur's first day at the Institute. He attempted to explain the place to him, but was left with the impression that Arthur didn't really believe him. Judging from his build and his hands, he was a fighter or soldier - and he seems to know a great deal about war and weaponry like guns, swords, bows, and the like. He has shown interest in the History Club due to his own background in combat. He's also admitted to being a very important person in his country, although Okita doesn't know him since Arthur is from the modern era. He doesn't know what Arthur really is, but he probably wouldn't believe him even if he did. The main impression Okita was left with was his foreignness, and his interest in the History Club.
♥ Badou Nails It seems like almost all the men in Okita's life are smokers and hopelessly addicted to tobacco. Badou is no exception, but in this case, it makes for a very lucrative business deal. If Okita can supply Badou with cigarettes (strange white smoking sticks as far as Okita is concerned), then Badou will pay him back with candy. Besides that, Badou helped Okita cheer up a bit after having a particularly bad night. They drew together on Okita's hand, a scene of them watching fireworks on a rooftop, which eventually devolved into a picture of Kenshin being dead, but the fact remains that Badou tried to cheer him up and Okita is very grateful for that. He likes the man even if they rarely talk nowadays. He does keep tabs on him though, noting his close relationship with the boy Artemis Fowl and with people from his world who have started to arrive. Okita is unaware that Badou thinks he's a flat-chested girl.
♥ Arlene "The Bride" She introduced herself as Arlene and while Okita was never able to learn very much about her, she did tell him that she was searching for daughter. He'd seen her early messages on the board, usually to the tune of her looking out for or asking after someone (usually young females) and so he knows that she tends to watch out for the young girls at the Institute. He figures the reason is because she's a mother and because she's taking care of surrogate daughters this way. Since Okita himself is fond of children, he promised to keep an eye out for Arlene's daughter B.B. and to report anything he hears to her. He doesn't know about who she really is, but he suspects there is more than meets the eye to her - what with her hands and stature being that of a fighter.
♥ Yakushijin Tenzen The man of Iga. Okita met him on the bulletin when he was looking for others of his village, surprising the swordsman a great deal. The Iga village was once renowned as the source of the ninja that worked for the Tokugawa shogunate until recent times when a political shift in power saw them replaced by the men of the Kii Province. Okita recognizes that having a man of Iga on their side would be an astounding advantage, but he has yet to convince Yakushijin to join the History Club. The man is a leader, not a follower, which makes him reluctant to join rank. Okita hopes to convince him sometime soon, though, because he feels Yakushijin's skills are invaluable.
♥ Honey Honey is both a fighter and a 'child,' so Okita feels like staying close to him in particular. He is also willing to tell Okita about the past, so that makes him useful.
♥ Fai D. Fluorite Homura wanted to know about Fai and thus asked for Okita's opinion on him. Okita has since lost sight of Fai, but he still wishes to know exactly what it is the man is hiding. As someone who also hides so much, Okita could tell that Fai had a secret (or secrets) that he didn't want to reveal to anyone, especially to Homura and Okita (who was technically a stranger). That said, Fai was enlisted to do a few tasks for the History Club, so Okita assumes the matter is settled and is willing to leave well enough alone. He is one of the principle members of the Lost and Found Club.
♥ Loz Although they have yet to meet, Okita recognized the name "Yazoo" on the bulletin from his knowledge of Kadaj and has anonymously met his other brother, Loz. Okita doesn't know what Loz looks like, but he'll be keeping an eye out for him. After discussing weapons and where to obtain them, Okita gave Loz a fake name, Kane, in order to contact him. While he knows this will likely damage his relationship with Yuffie, he has a soft spot for Kadaj and his brothers, and likes their ruthlessness in a way. He finds himself inexplicably drawn to helping them, even though he knows it's a bad idea.
♥ Lelouch Lamperouge He arose at a time when the information network had fallen due to Mello's first disappearance. His sudden insistence on categorizing things and maintaining a somewhat vague presence in the background piqued Okita's curiosity, especially since he was setting himself up into a leadership position. There is something going on with him - him and his friends - but Okita hasn't been able to figure it out yet. He has the ability to induce truth in others, making Okita reluctant to meet with him in case he ever tries that ability with him. Instead, he keeps doodling anonymously on any and all posts made by the boy, just to test the waters and see what he's up to and what his mental state is like. So far, he has yet to be caught at this.
At Homura's request, he sent Ayumu after him to try to uncover something, but the mission revealed nothing of any great importance that he could find. As of now, the History Club is taking a much more hands-on approach to watching Lelouch and his doings, but that doesn't mean they aren't following him in the shadows, too. His position at the head of the information network, GAMBIT, is something Okita is going to be watching closely - especially since his endeavors led a few people from the History Club itself in the beginning.
♥ Kururugi Suzaku Lelouch's right hand man and something of a point of interest for Okita. He once talked to the boy and was able to discern he followed Lelouch like a leader and put the boy's ideas above that of any military officer. It indicates that Lelouch has considerable power and is someone with which to be reckoned. Suzaku is also fiercely protective of Lelouch it seems, which makes Okita wonder just what sort of bond they have - if it is merely friends or if Lelouch has some sort of rank, despite his claims of being only a student. Okita doesn't know much about Suzaku himself, but he watches his exchanges with Yuffie closely and has determined that he does have a sense of humor, albeit only when it comes to certain things. Yuffie's nickname for him is Suzie and apparently they're working on some project together. What that is, however, remains to be seen. It may be the exercise program that Yuffie is implementing, but Okita thinks it must be something else.
♥ Brainiac 5 While never having met Brainiac 5 directly, he has spoken with him on the bulletin. Okita doesn't know Brainiac 5's identity, but he does know him as the person who impersonates Lelouch on the bulletin board with a very convincing copy of his handwriting for research purposes. He first suspected this forgery when Brainy ripped down and refused to draw pictures back with him on a post. Lelouch always drew cats in return to Okita's anonymous pig drawings, but Brainy grew upset and refused to participate. Finding this strange, Okita began to suspect that this person wasn't Lelouch at all. The next time, Lelouch himself appeared and revealed that the poster was an impostor, but not his name. As far as Okita knows, Brainy is using Lelouch's identity to conduct research he could not do under his own for fear of being harassed. He's curious as to why and wants to know who this boy is.
♥ Aidou Although Aidou likely doesn't remember, Okita does. There is something decidedly inhuman about Aidou that sets off Okita's alarms. He's been wary of him ever since accidentally flicking a spork at him during a mealtime meeting and getting attacked for his mistake. That doesn't mean Okita is going to leave him entirely alone though, and given the chance, he'll still push Aidou's buttons.
♥ Mello The original information network creator, Mello was an antagonistic presence to the History Club and all clubs in general. Smart and difficult to pin, Mello was a cunning adversary as he tried to pull down the clubs' reputations and destroy their clout within the Institute. Okita assigned Ayumu to the case; her mission was to uncover any and all information about Mello so they could learn about him, find his weaknesses and eventually eliminate him as a threat. As Sen, she grew close to Robin (aka Mello's friend, Matt) who was a double agent for Mello within the History Club. They were just gaining ground on him when Mello mysteriously vanished. His antagonistic group dispersed with him and his threat was neutralized.
Mello has since returned to the Institute, but now he seems more willing to work with the clubs. Still, he is a possible threat and Okita is wary of him and his intentions. Thus, Okita will be keeping an eye on any and all of Mello's activities to ensure he does not try to seize control again. So far, his movements seem restrained to the bulletin - although Okita has only seen a few examples of his handiwork when he hasn't bothered to disguise his writing.
♥ Renamon Another of Mello's antagonistic group, Renamon once got Okita to lose his cool on the bulletin board. She initially looked to gain membership with a club, but later turned against them and vocally scrutinized their efforts. Feeling that her actions threatened their ability to recruit new bloo at a crucial point in the club's formation (as well as seeing her connection to Mello and, therefore, marking her immediately as the enemy), Okita unwisely lashed out at her. He regrets his actions and has kept an eye out for Renamon since just to ensure that she doesn't try her antagonistic stunts again; and to keep updated on what she's doing. So far it seems that her desire to undermine the clubs vanished along with Mello's disappearance, making Okita wonder if her distaste for the clubs was her own or if she'd merely been influenced by Mello.
♥ Isayama Yomi The first time they met was the night Homura injected himself with the black drug, causing him to get brainwashed into helping the Institute. Homura ended up stabbing Okita to a wall with his own sword and Yomi was an unnoticed observer. Thus, their first meeting went unknown to Okita who was a bit preoccupied at the time to say the least. The next day at breakfast, she approached Okita to ask him where he'd gotten his sword. She was extremely interested in gaining a weapon, but since Okita was already reeling from the effects of the previous night, he was less than friendly toward the woman. He hated that someone had witnessed his defeat and then taken that as an opportunity to ask about gaining a sword for themselves. Luckily, Jaime Reyes came and interrupted their conversation, saving Okita from having to answer any further questions. Now, Yomi is trying to join the History Club, although Okita isn't aware that the woman he spoke to on the bulletin is her.
♥ Porky Minch He's an older gentleman, far older than Okita thinks is safe for him to be running around, but someone who Okita sees as still very immature. Porky met Okita in Doyleton and didn't leave a very favorable impression on the swordsman. He has a very dark outlook that tends to blame others for his misfortune, which leads to nasty remarks about others and several behaviors that Okita finds distasteful. Okita remembers him thanks to the incident where Lelouch was forced to reveal his power because Porky was apparently trying to blackmail Lelouch or something. Due to this, Okita's general impression of Porky Minch is that he's dangerous because he's manipulative and won't hesitate to stoop to lows in order to take his enemies down. He once tried to recruit people into a club based upon promoting his own agenda, but it didn't go well because no one wanted to be a 'minion' here. Okita outwardly maintains a pleasant disposition with Porky, but inwardly hopes to limit his interaction with the man.
♥ Kamiya Kaoru Kamiya Kaoru is Himura Kenshin's friend and someone he's extremely protective of. She's from his world, a product of the Meiji era, and apparently the head of her family and its dojo. Okita was a bit shocked to learn that a woman was running a dojo, but he figured it was just part of the changing world to come - and after seeing Kaoru he somewhat understood. He's never met her save for once in very unfavorable circumstances, but as she's part of Himura's camp, it is difficult for Okita to have anything more than a negative reaction to her. He met her when Ayumu attacked her and Himura after being visited by a brainwashed 'Susumu' and Okita had to pull rank to stop her. Kaoru is now under the protection of the truce so neither he nor Ayumu can touch her without risking war with Himura.
♥ Himura Kenshin The former Hitokiri Battousai turned repentent rurouni has a tenuous and odd relationship with Okita. They are allies under the History Club, but the first time they met, Okita attempted to stab him in the face with a spork. Kenshin embodies the failure of the Shinsengumi to Okita and, therefore, he hates him with an undying passion. At the same time, he recognizes begrudgingly that the war is over for Kenshin and that he should let it go. He has a peace tready with him at the moment thanks to Hijikata (as a way of ensuring weapons get into Shinsengumi hands), but that only holds so long as Kenshin doesn't provoke any sort of battle. Okita feels that he and Kenshin are a lot alike in many ways and that bothers him to no end.
♥ Sync The first time Okita ever saw Guy severely hurt, it was when an unknown person ambushed him and Claude, breaking Guy's arm. Okita wanted revenge for someone hurting his roommate, but Guy refused to give a name. He merely said it was someone from his world and that he would deal with it. Out of respect, Okita eventually gave up trying to uncover the attacker's identity.
However, Guy was then killed in a trap and Claude gave Okita a name and a description to go off: Sync, young, green haired and deadly. He learned that Sync tortured Guy before snapping his neck and although Okita has never met Sync, he won't hesitate to hurt him if he gets the opportunity. Even though Guy has returned, Okita still feels a deep anger at the boy for what he did. He is unaware that Claude has already sought vengeance, but if he ever runs into Sync at night, Okita
will attack him.
No Longer At the Institute
♥ Hijikata Toshizou His vice commander at home and still the most important person in his life, Hijikata Toshizou is the one responsible for making Okita Souji into who he is today. Okita will willingly kill or die by Hijikata's command. The vice commander is the one person Okita has centered his life on and, without him, he tends to fall apart. That doesn't mean he follows blindly though and often drops hints that Hijikata needs to rest or is on the wrong path in subtle ways. Hijikata was twice at Landel's and twice he left, leaving Okita's world in shambles. The second time, however, he was graced with a visit and thus believes Hijikata is capable of being saved from the world outside. This has given Okita a purpose again, and it is one of the reasons why he follows Homura.
♥ Hinasaki Miku A haiku buddy who turned into a real ally when she offered to tell him about his past. He likes her, even if she's a little shy and has a strange hero worship of him. He initially wanted to stay near her in order to gain information from her, but since she is also a poetry friend, he does genuinely like her. Hinasaki Miku has since left the Institute, making Okita wonder just what happened to her. He misses her a great deal, but hopes her path leads her to a better place.
♥ Hijikata Toshirou Now here is an interesting case. Hijikata Toshirou is the Alternate Universe version of Hijikata Toshizou, and as such, he is the highest ranking Shinsengumi officer in Landel's. Unfortunately, being AU, he wants nothing to do with Okita or his 'angst' version of events. They have a common enemy in Takasugi Shinsuke and Martin Landel, but they still haven't come to terms with each other. Okita is uncertain how Hijikata's appearance disrupts his alliance to Homura, but for now, he is willing and content to stay with his current commander.
He and Hijikata had an argument over the board because Okita could not control his animosity toward Takasugi, but later met Hijikata in the showers thanks to his anonymity. They had a pleasant conversation up until Hijikata realized who he was. While it seems that Hijikata doesn't hate Okita's presence, they are still wary of each other.
♥ Kadaj Kadaj is an interesting case in that Okita never told him his real name, and yet he still felt close to him. Not close enough to call him a friend, but close enough that Okita kept an eye on him. He knew that Kadaj was dangerous, but the boy didn't begrudge him his own bloodthirsty side and actually preferred it to Okita's happy-go-lucky self. The fact that he could drop all pretenses around him was both reassuring and scary at the same time. Now that Kadaj is gone, Okita misses him, but hopes he was reunited with his family.
Recently Kadaj returned, but seems to have no memories of their prior meeting. Okita is uncertain how to progress now, after seeing him attack Yuffie.
♥ Adelheid "Adel" Bernstein Okita can't help but tease his "Weaver" about his
awkwardness. He does respect Adel for his skills, but he wishes he'd open up a little more in the emotional department. He hasn't seen Adel in awhile, and because of that he worries about the man's allegiance to their group sometimes. Since he is their only route to weaponry, he finds him extremely valuable. Okita is more than happy to do what he can in order to keep Adel around.
♥ Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin Although he has a hard time telling Hikaru and Kaoru apart by appearance, he can easily separate them by personality. Hikaru is eager and willing to tell him about the past, whereas Kaoru is more reluctant to believe that he really is Okita Souji.
♥ Jaime Reyes Jaime seems like a good boy, with his questions and his willingness to listen. However, after Jaime accidentally used Scarab's scanning ability and realized that Okita has tuberculosis, Jaime has become someone to be avoided. If he can get his talent into the History Club, it is another thing, but for now, Okita is wary of being around him at all for fear that whatever ability the boy has will let others know that he is ill.
♥ Takasugi Shinsuke As the leader of the Kiheitai, Takasugi Shinsaku was the most dangerous man in the Choushu province. His alternate universe counterpart, Takasugi Shinsuke, is no different. As someone who comes from a world that Okita doesn't understand, he has a slight advantage in that Okita won't kill him on sight, but he is still dangerous and because of that, he is being kept under close watch. Homura's decision to allow Takasugi to join the History Club drove a wedge between Okita and his leader temporarily. Okita is hoping that Takasugi will show his true colors soon, before he is armed, so Okita can take him out - or capture him and bring him to Hijikata Toshirou in an attempt to get in the other man's good graces.
